Most of you know I’m a “reluctant joiner”. But in this case, I’ll be guided by a PFA majority vote, probably at our next meeting. Discussion welcome!
Do we want to join? Thanks! Don
Dear Clan Paisley Society
You may be aware that the Scottish Government published its Scottish Connections Framework, Scotland’s new diaspora policy, earlier this year.
The Scottish Connections Framework is a commitment to our diaspora, an invitation to engage, and a commitment to deepen our global Scottish community. Our approach to diaspora engagement is inclusive – we welcome those with ancestry or heritage links, our educational and alumni communities, those with Scottish business links, or a wider connection to Scottish culture.
We recognise that there are already many established and passionate organisations around the world who work to bring together and support these diverse Scottish communities.
To encourage connections with and between these organisations and their members, we are currently developing a public-facing digital directory of organisations around the world affiliated with Scotland. This directory will be launched on scotland.org later this year, to coincide with St Andrew’s Day.
As an organisation with a link to Scotland, we would like to invite you to be a part of this directory. The directory will include your organisation or business name, a short description of your organisation’s activity, and links to your website or social media channels. Anyone visiting scotland.org will then be able to find and reach out to organisations in regions around the world.
If you would like to be included in the scotland.org diaspora directory, please complete this short form by 20 October. Our privacy notice outlines data usage on our website.
Later this year, we will also launch a digital service where individuals can register themselves as a member of Scotland’s international diaspora and receive information from Scotland. If your organisation would like to hear more about this launch to share with your members, please indicate on the form.
If you have any questions, please contact the Scottish Connections team at diaspora@gov.scot.
Warm regards
The Scottish Connections team at the Scottish Government
