Working from old deeds, surveys and Norris family records obtained from Philadelphia, I have created a map depicting where William Paisley, Sr., established himself in Pennsylvania after emigrating from Ulster, Ireland in 1737. He first settled in Whitemarsh township, then moved around 1739 to property owned by Deborah Norris in Norriton township along its border with Providence township in what was then Philadelphia County, Province of Pennsylvania. He followed his father-in-law, Joseph McLean, Sr., and was joined by his brother-in-law, David Landy, husband of William’s sister, Mary. These early years in America will hopefully be detailed in the next Paisley Family Newsletter.
